Reval Café is a brilliant example of how to gallantly meet your customers' essential needs.
While traveling in China, America, Germany, Finland, and Brazil (and all the countries in-between), I've caught myself thinking that I would give up my little finger for some good rice pudding with fresh strawberry jam, a rhubarb cake and a glass of freshly pressed orange or grapefruit juice. It's unbelievable that the TRUE breakfast revolution has been carried out by a small but lovely chain of city cafés that has surprisingly well recognised the needs of a new kind of busy and urbanised yet down-to-earth people.
The service is sweetly personal, ingredients carefully chosen and flavours finely tuned. As I'm a musician myself, the tenderly chosen mood music is a real "currant on the tartlet" for me.
P.S. Reval Gelato has relieved me of the reason to sigh for Italy every time I get an urge to have some ice-cream as the desired pleasure is never farther than 300 meters when strolling through the Old Town.

FLAMM: is its own world. Like a movie. Time stops when I step through the door. (Or is it me who forgets about the time?) But even before, already at the door, the smell of fresh-baked goods greets me – offering a glimpse of what's soon to come. In a small place like this, the people are put in the forefront, both the hosts and their guests. I let the hosts take care of me and they do a brilliant job. They respect both the food and their guests. I experience a subtle realisation that I've been cared for. Was it the curious glance from the head chef, silently asking “How's the food?” Or my own glance at the other patrons – all exuding joy and contentment.
FLAMM: is a cosy place with a lot of soul. It's just big enough. Charming in its simplicity. Everything is made to shine the spotlight on it's main star – the tarte flambée is superb. Pure flavours, elegant form. The thoughtful selection of wine is in playful harmony with the eponymous hero.
I leave with a smile on my face. This was experience that I am already subconsciously planning to recreate. In my head, I am sending out invitations to people with whom I'd love to share this new experience. Let's meet at FLAMM:!

Humalakoda is famous for its very own beers and the dishes chosen to accompany them. That's true, they're really worth tasting, especially the cheese balls. But first and foremost, Humalakoda is a very democratic place where all kinds of people are welcome – everyone can drink and rejoice here. Like they say: beer makes everyone equal. By the way, Humalakoda is the only place in Estonia which offers a special brew for dogs!

For me, Jahu Street Gourmet is love at first sight and first bite. This little café with its great downtown location is my first choice for going out for delicious pizza with my family or having a tasty burger with my friends before heading to the cinema. On warm summer days I can sit outside and easily imagine myself enjoying my favourite pizza bianca with truffle paste somewhere in Italy. The taste is so authentic and good that you are guaranteed to have a real culinary experience. And if the cold Estonian weather sets in again, the café with its modern-designed interior is spacious enough to accommodate all fans of good and high-quality street food around its counter. You can even throw a birthday party there! Prosecco is always chilled and French fries are the best in town!

Visiting La Tabla equals to a foodie trip into Latin American cuisine. Our colourful interior and cool atmosphere create a nice Latin feeling. We mix all the newest culinary trends with traditional Latin cuisine but our real forte is the genuine flavours and fresh ingredients. La Tabla is the only restaurant in Estonia that makes tortillas all the way from the corn reaped from the field – just like it has been done for centuries in Mexico. Nordic Hotel Forum has become my second home. Restaurant Monaco and hotel lobby are the places where you can meet many well-known art and culture people both from the local circles and from abroad. In the evening, these places have a particularly cosy atmosphere with peaceful buzz. The vast expanse of its glass wall offers a splendid view to the main street of Tallinn with its bright lights and city bustle.
It creates a special kind of magic which gives you a true feeling of city life. I have even created music when sitting here. Besides the seriously good food, special wine selection, endless Internet and the delicious coffee, I also treasure how guests are treated here – with wholehearted warmth and friendliness. It is so easy to come here and meet up with people, spend some time and move on, if necessary – everything is nearby.

For me, Naganaga is one of the most legendary lunch spots in town. There are only a few places in Old Town which are not built to be tourist traps. Naga evokes a cozy feeling that Old Town still belongs to the people. During lunchtime, I usually order daily offers which might include chanterelles or some other seasonal goodies. Another time I grab their local guilty pleasure - a bowl of crunchy stretchy Rain’s cheesy cheese balls. Why are Rain’s cheese balls named after a person? Because Naga’s dishes are made up by real people and these excellent cheese balls were created by Rain.

Medieval might not be most frequent genre of movies at PÖFF, but dont be shy to find out how to dine like Merchants did back in the 1400s. Hint: It was delicious and honey beer from medieval times is a must-have. Guys in Olde Hansa have recreated everything spot on! Not just a stomach full but an experience.

R14 wine restaurant is a place where the head chef and sommelier work together to create tastes that are in harmony and for the enjoyment of guests who will return, time and again. R14 and Rein Kasela's Wine Room work together to offer expert advice to customers looking to buy exclusive drinks to take home or for enjoyment at the restaurant. Aside from great food and lovely evenings, restaurant R14 offers educational wine classes and tastings. Depending on your budget and tastes, you will be able to enjoy various wines and accompanying food at this centrally-located wine restaurant.

Restaurant Rae is a lovely place on Town Hall square with good food and service, and wonderful people. I have been a loyal customer since 2005, I sincerely recommend it!

Leib Restaurant is a food-lover's bite-sized paradise in historic Tallinn. The Estonian produce and their unique dishes are top quality. The fish and meat eaters here are always generous tippers. There's plenty that other places can learn from Leib, and offering a matching glass of wine with each dish is one. Their whisky selection, put together with the Scottish Club, is very special. The service is exceptionally warm and knowledgeable.

Just now, when leaving to the street after having had dinner with myself in the little cosy Saltrestoran, and seeing the waning moon I thought: what a beautiful night. Watching the wonderful atmosphere, the constant plates going from the kitchen to the tables, feeling the aromas and flavors makes you confused and you do not really understand where you are - in Estonia or in the Mediterranean.

From a cocktail menu to a really diverse assortment of food – they can really fulfil every single wish you might have. Every dish and cocktail brought us another brilliant surprise.
A true satisfaction and desire to taste everything – all the best emotions are guaranteed!
All the dishes look extremely delicious, interesting and most certainly fresh.
And last but not least, we absolutely love their huge servings of Carpaccio and their marvellous service!

All the meals I've had at TOA have been very enjoyable and I'm so looking forward to the next visit. After many travels to Asia, a dinner at TOA is a delicious flashback as their specialty is sauces which make every Asian dish a true delight.
The cordial but still professional waiters of TOA will give you the best suggestions, the cool interior is great for either having a dinner or a cocktail, and everyone can choose among niches with different atmospheres.

Tokumaru got me hooked when I discovered quite a few years ago that they sell the best kimchi in Tallinn! For me, Tokumaru is the first place to go to when I want a quick healthy and tasty bite to eat. Sushis, ramens, dons and everything else is made from fresh produce right in front of my eyes and so far I have never been disappointed in the superb flavours. Besides kimchi, my second favourite on the Tokumaru menu is the salmon and avocado don, closely followed by various ramens.

Vapiano is an ideal place to visit both during PÖFF and any given day but the speed of service and the quality of food make it perfect for having a tasty meal between two screenings. Besides, as I'm not good at cooking myself, it's good to catch a glimpse of the cooks making your favourite dish at Vapiano – the delicious meal comes together with a cooking class. It's like watching magicians explain their tricks, although with one exception: the magic won't disappear even after you’ve learnt their secrets.
