Tsai Ming-liang

(b. 1957) moved to Taiwan in 1977 and graduated from the drama department of the Chinese Cultural University in 1981. He soon debuted as a theatre director and began writing scripts for film and TV. He shot his first feature film „Rebels of the Neon God” in 1992 and has since become a key figure in the second wave of Taiwanese cinema.
