Genre: Youth film
Synopsis

This film follows four young girls into the vibrant, hedonistic subculture of Berlin. Janaina, 17, earns money by making Internet pornography. Her best friend, Emmy, 18, finds the whole city intoxicating, without realizing that she's getting deeper and deeper into a cycle of addiction. Joy muses about love when she doesn't happen to be selling drugs. And Abbie, 16, dreams of escaping to Los Angeles.

"YUNG" is a roller-coaster ride through the millenial lifestyle, rough and authentic. Hailed by one of Germany’s most prominent critics as a successor to KIDS, it certainly gives us insight into Berlin's current youth culture like never before. With US-based artists like Mike Ott and Adam Ginsberg in key functions and the project being realised outside the regular funding system in Germany, 1988-born Gronkowski pulled of a deeply idiosyncratic debut: His film is sensual, aggressive, sometimes shocking, often explicit. The energy of the characters - unbound, undirected - jumps at us from the screen. In a time of seemingly limitless freedom this characters embark on a journey towards finding their own self – und recklessly make use of their bodies and souls along the way. A Generation Lost (and Found?).
