Synopsis

Oscar winner László Nemes invites to a deeply personal journey through twinkling Budapest in the rise of the 20th century. Beautiful Irisz (strongly performed by Juli Jakab) returns to work at elegant hat shop, overtaken from her late father by greedy aristocrat Oszkár (Romanian legionnaire Vlad Ivanov). Spreading rumours about unheard brother pushes Irisz for fearless hectic searches despite warnings to run away from the dangerous city. Awarded the FIPRESCI Jury Prize at Venice IFF cryptic and demanding for full attention film will represent Hungary as candidate in Best Foreign Language Filmnomination of the Academy Awards. History, philosophy, mysterious fantasies, real life memories, family secrets, crime and horror thrills are intensively mixed together to warn about emptiness of unnecessary wars.
