Synopsis

We are happy to welcome Asoka Handagama back to our competition (he was previously in Tallinn in 2015 with his film Let Her Cry). It is no stretch to say that you haven’t seen a movie like Asandhimitta before. It is uncategorizable in every way and will mystify you long after you have walked out of the screening. The film constantly makes you question what is real and what is not – this story of love and loss and looking for second chances is fascinating throughout.

It all begins with a mysterious phone call in the middle of the night. A renowned filmmaker receives a call from an old college mate Asandhi who confesses that she was recently involved in a triple homicide of three women. She asks the director to make a film based on her life. Intrigued, the filmmaker attempts to piece together her fragmented story for a film while Asandhimitta herself awaits her fate in a local prison.
